Pegasus Life secured planning permission through public inquiry for a Sarah Wigglesworth Architects scheme for a C2 assisted living community at The Knowle, Sidmouth, Devon. The Design Review Panel (www.designreviewpanel.co.uk) were instructed by East Devon District Council (EDDC) to provide multidisciplinary, expert, independent and impartial guidance and feedback to the local authority, applicant and design team during the pre-application design stage.

Swindon Council Launch NEW Design Review Panel



Steam Museum Swindon

The Launch event was held on the 14th July 2016 at the Steam Museum in Swindon, and there were over 75 delegates in attendance, including architects, urban designers, landscape architects, planners, developers and community representatives. The event included an introduction by Councillor Toby Elliot, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, as well as a presentation by Peter Garitsis, Urban Designer / Master Planner at Swindon Borough Council. Peter outlined the ongoing urban design work and regeneration currently taking place in Swindon as well as the exciting future proposals and available opportunities for investment and regeneration.

Against this context, Peter explained how the new Swindon Design Review Panel will be of great benefit to both the local authority and applicants.

The presentation by Peter Garitsis was followed with a presentation by, architect and Panel administrator, Jonathan Braddick on how the new local Swindon Design Review Panel will operate.

Jonathan also invited applications from professionals who would like to join the volunteer pool of Panel experts.

The presentations were followed by a lively question and answer session, and the evening concluded with a champagne drinks reception. The event was attended by construction industry professionals from a wide range of professions, planning officers and developers.

The new Panel was extremely well received by all in attendance, with the first Panel sessions in Swindon scheduled for late September 2016 and are booked on a first come first served basis.
